Our Brand History
W e began our journey as three students at Makerere University Medical School. We had witnessed several pregnant women die due to risk factors of maternal mortality in the rural areas where we were posted for community based learning. Most of these risk factors could be detected using ultrasound, however, most of the centers didn’t have ultrasound services. In Uganda, over 16 women die every day due to risk factors of maternal mortality and out of the 16, 7 die of complications that can be detected early on ultrasound and managed.
Through the aforementioned challenges and statistics, M-SCAN idea emerged to address the challenges faced by women in resource limited areas regarding ultrasound.M-SCAN device is a low cost portable ultrasound device that is coupled to a laptop, tablet or Mobile Phone to
achieve ultrasound scanning.
To provide mobile ultrasound services through Ultrasound camps to people in resource limited settings especially pregnant mothers in-order to reduce maternal mortality rates by ensuring early detection and management of risk factors of maternal and neonatal mortality
